Abstract

This paper is a study of formal, semantic and pragmatic properties of the idiomatic structure a N1of a N2 with the meaning “N2 resembles N1”. We analyze the given form within the framework of Construction Morphology which we believe is the most viable analytic tool for constructional idioms, the phenomena that display strong phrase-like and word-like properties, without losing the generalizations that exist between the two.
